Patrícia Canelas is an architect and an urban planner, with a PhD in planning studies from the BSP, UCL, an M.Arch from the University of California, Berkeley, a Postgrad degree in Sustainable Urban Design and Architecture from Católica University, and a degree in Architecture from Universidade Lusíada. Prior to her academic work, she has worked as an architect and urban designer for 11 years gaining significant knowledge in design, planning and property markets. Patricia has worked as an academic since 2007, holding academic positions at the FE, University Católica Lisboa; BSP, University College London; and Henley Business School, University of Reading.

Patricia is currently a tutor at the BSP, UCL, and a research associate at ISCTE-IUL. She has been involved in international research projects in China, theUSA, Portugal, the Netherlands and the UK. Patrícia's research seeks to advance knowledge on the forces that shape the power dynamics at play in property markets and urban governance, particularly considering the rising importance of cities and the built environment as investment vehicles.
