Clara Leão Dance School

Dancers

Portugal

Directed by Clara Leão, and with 33 years of existence, EDCL is a project in which dance is sought to discover itself, the other and the world around. The main objective of EDCL is to create conditions for students, of all ages, to discover possibilities and limits, of will and effort capacity, of creative and creative potential, crossing the spaces of the studio , the stage, and the city floor, and crossing ideas, experiences, ages, and worlds.

EDCL seeks diversity, and the discovery of the other as engines of dance learning, so that it can also happen as an instrument of inclusion, in projects such as Opera in the Prison and Mozart Pavilion of PARTIS / Gulbenkian, with prison population, Everybodies from Comenius Regio, with disabled children, or Daqui P´ra Cá from PARTIS / Gulbenkian), with Roma children. EDCL seeks self-awareness, complicity, and the exploration of capacities in long-term projects such as Creative Dance for Seniors, encompassing urban and rural populations. EDCL seeks a strong interaction with the community by developing regular work on site specific, producing pieces resulting from reinterpretations of city spaces, and from a time and way of being in community.
